Biography

As a life-long Pocatellan, I love our city. I have great parents who raised me to know the value of honesty, hard work and integrity. My family has a long history of community service. My dad was Mayor here, on the city council and served in the state legislature. Growing up, I learned at my father’s feet my responsibility to serve.

Bannock County • Commissioner
December 2017 to Present
I was one of three names selected by the Bannock County Republican Central Committee that were sent to the Governor for consideration and was appointed to the Bannock County Commission by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter on December 19, 2017. I fill the 2nd District Commission seat vacated by Evan Frasure as a result of his appointment as the Idaho State Director of the USDA Farm Service Agency by President Donald Trump. My terms expires the second Monday of January in 2021.

City of Pocatello • President of the City Council

I was appointed to the Pocatello City Council by Mayor Brian Blad on July 1, 2010 and received a unanimous vote of approval from the Council. I was then elected to the Council for a four year term in 2011 and re-elected in 2015.

I worked as a liaison for Idaho constituents, government officials at all levels, groups and organizations, business and industry representing Senator Larry Craig and then Representative Mike Simpson.

Lava Hot Springs State Foundation • Board of Trustees
July 2010 to May 2017
Lava Hot Springs and the Portneuf River were deeded to the state of Idaho in 1902 to provide a health and recreation facility. The state built a natatorium in 1918 and now oversees operation of the swimming pools and hot baths through the Lava Hot Springs Foundation. Operation is overseen by the Lava Hot Springs Foundation whose trustees are appointed by the Governor of Idaho.

LIA offers concentrated study and hands-on experiences that provide enhanced skills for future leaders in agriculture, rural communities, agribusiness and governmental agencies. The program builds and sharpens personal leadership and communication skills through tours, guest speakers, panel discussions and group interaction.

The urban renewal agency for the City of Pocatello, a board which stimulates economic development by focusing on blighted and underdeveloped areas.

I have the best family and a great life. I’m married to the gorgeous Julia Dixon, have two beautiful girls and three mostly handsome boys!
